“Lecha Walesa Fund” Foundation
“Lech Walesa Fund” was established by President Lech Walesa in 2009 in order to provide support and financing for “Lech Walesa Institute” Foundation which operates since 1995. The main goal of the Fund, based on the ability to run business activities, is to establish a well functioning mechanism for acquiring financial resources required to create Lech Walesa Presidential Library in Warsaw, Grant Fund and Distinction Fund. Creation of these Funds is planned by Lech Walesa to emphasize and support activities of individuals promoting Poland, writing about Poland, studying Polish history and culture and working for national integration in the spirit of solidarity and respect for a centuries-old tradition of tolerance, openness and commitment to act and fight for “freedom yours and ours”.
Statutory objectives of the Fund:
- Initiation and management of activaties for the development of education and scientific research in the field of human sciences, research and studies on Polish history, recent history, social movements and political parties;
- Protection and promotion of Polish cultural heritage and traditions of independence and solidarity in Poland and beyond its borders;
- Support for the developmental processes of democracy, local governance and the NGO sector;
- Action for widening and deepening European integration with respect for Polish culture and national heritage;
- Promotion of universal values in public activities;
