On Saturday, 29th October 2008, Lech Walesa will be presented with a replica of an officer's sword from the times of general Kazimierz Pulaski, a hero of the American War of Independence. The Kazimierz Pulaski Foundation will grant Lech Walesa a title „Knight of Freedom".
The inscription on the sword will read 'A Knight of Freedom - Lech Walesa'. This prize will be passed to the president next Saturday, during an inauguration of the 5th edition of the Young Diplomats Academy. The laudation will be delivered by Daniel Olbrychski.
In previous years, the Knight of Freedom title was awarded to professor Władysław Bartoszewski, professor, Norman Davies, and one of the leaders of Belarusian opposition, Alexander Milinkevich.
The Kazimierz Pulaski Foundation is a non-governmental institution with the aim to support freedom, justice and democracy.
