International activity of President Lech Walesa in 2006
As in the previous years, in 2006 there are planned numerous foreign visits and meetings with international guests as well as a cooperation with the diplomatic corps accredited in our country.
The United States of America is the main destination of President Walesa’a trips in 2006. There have been already confirmed about 20 lectures there. In spring President Lech Walesa will visit the universities in Miami, FL; Denver, CO; Roanoke, VA; Omaha, NE; Adelphi, MD; Salisbury, MD; Pensacola, FL; Orlando, FL; Murray, KY; Flint, MI, West Lafayette, IN; Montezuma, NM; Greenwich, CT; Manhattan, KS; Hutchinson, KS; Las Vegas, NE; Irvine, CA; Los Angeles, CA. Apart from the meetings with students, there is planned Mr & Mrs Walesa’s participation in Polonia Gala in Miami, FL, and in the inauguration of the Polish Festival in Santa Monica, CA. The visits will include meetings with the Governor of the State of California, Mr. Arnold Schwarzenegger; Mrs. Nancy Reagan and the high representatives of the United Nations and the U.S. Senate.
There is another trip planned to the United Stated in fall 2006.
The visits in Europe will start in Germany, Hamburg, where President will discuss, along with Vaclav Havel and Helmut Schmidt, the future of the European-Russian relations. There are also the trips to the Great Britain, France, Italy and Spain. Lech Walesa will speak about the European integration, the civil society and the role of Europe in the globalization era.
The preliminary schedule includes also the visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Kuwait. Lech Walesa was invited to a few conferences in Canada and Japan and to the Catholic conference in Chile.
In Poland, President Lech Walesa will attend international conferences, like: “Giants of the Central Europe” organized by Puls Biznesu and the AIESEC World Congress “Solidarity for the Future.”
