„Freedom and Solidarity Festival” in Gdańsk soon!

2019-05-29

In 1989 democracy in Poland was born. Partially free elections paved the way towards desired freedom. Lech Wałęsa was one of the authors of that events. Thirty years after this special moment of Polish history we want to invite you to Gdańsk to celebrate the triumph of Solidarity together. The programme of the “Freedom and Solidarity Festival”, which will take place on June 1-11, encompasses more than 130 events – debates, concerts, marches, meeting and movie projections.

Gdańsk will be visited by many prominent personalities during these days, including participants of the Round Table Talks, former members of parliament and senators, social activists, as well as local government workers – all of them gathered to discuss the challenges which Poland has to face. On the 4th of June, at high noon, the national anthem will be sung together. President Lech Wałęsa will take part in the celebration, addressing the public with a speech at the Long Market in Gdańsk.
