Further actions within the #NationalHero campaign

2019-04-08

In February this year the Lech Wałęsa Institute Foundation, in cooperation with the „Świeca i Wspólnicy” Law Office, initiated the campaign #NationalHero. The aim of the common efforts is to protect the reputation of our Founder, president Lech Wałęsa, who has been a victim of many false allegations, formulated by prominent figures of Polish public life.

Wishing to counteract the dissemination of false and hurtful information, the Institute has issued further letters demanding an official apology for violating personal rights of president Wałęsa, this time to Mr. Ryszard Majdzik, as well as the editorial office of TVP Info and editor Krzysztof Ziemiec. Below an official statement in this matter.

On the 25th of March 2019, on behalf of President Lech Wałęsa, letters of demand, requesting an official apology and the cessation of further dissemination of false allegations which were spread by Mr. Ryszard Majdzik during his appearance on the 22nd of November 2019 in the “Minęła20” program at the TV station TVP INFO, were issued.

Additionally, following the disposition of the article no. 28 of the Press law (Dz.U. z 2018 r., poz. 1914), enabling the redress for violating the personal rights by the editor and publisher, we kindly inform that appropriate demands have been sent to the editorial office of “Minęła20” program and editor Krzysztof Ziemiec who was running the show and remained passive towards vulgar and defamatory statements of Mr. Ryszard Majdzik.
